Ascended Heroes is the Pokémon TCG expansion that launched alongside the Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game, celebrating the dawn of Mega Evolution in the Scarlet & Violet era. The expansion's mascot is Mega Dragonite ex — the first Mega Dragonite card ever in the Pokémon TCG — leading a roster of 13 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex alongside Trainer's Pokémon and Stellar Tera Pokémon ex. Trainer's Pokémon are Pokémon belonging to specific characters in the Pokémon world — N's Zekrom, Cynthia's Garchomp, Red's Pikachu, Blue's Clefable — given their own dedicated card designs that tell the story of the Trainer–Pokémon bond.

The N's Zekrom promo card is Illustration Rare-style — a full-scene painted artwork rather than a simple Pokémon portrait, exclusive to the Elite Trainer Box.
