A new colour for the next generation. The Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 in Light Purple (L) and Light Green (R) is the February 2026 colour expansion for the Nintendo Switch 2 controller lineup — released alongside Mario Tennis Fever, this pastel pair brings a softer, more versatile aesthetic to a controller set that already outclasses its predecessor in every functional specification.
The Joy-Con 2 is a meaningfully upgraded controller from the original Joy-Con. The magnetic snap attachment replaces the original's rail-slide system — Joy-Con 2 snap onto the Switch 2 console's sides with a magnet and detach with the press of a small button that extends a cylinder to push them off. The attachment is faster, more secure, and requires no alignment pass the way rail-sliding did. The sticks are larger, smoother, and more durable than the original Joy-Con sticks, designed to address the wear characteristics of the original while delivering a more comfortable thumbstick feel for extended play sessions.
HD Rumble returns from the original Joy-Con with improved fidelity — the haptic feedback system that distinguishes Switch controllers from standard rumble by simulating the physical sensation of objects, textures, and interactions rather than generic vibration. In supported titles, the Joy-Con 2's HD Rumble makes the physical experience of a game noticeably more immersive than a standard controller. Motion controls work across both L and R controllers and function in both handheld and detached configurations.
The C Button is the Joy-Con 2's most significant new addition for the Switch 2 era. Located on the right Joy-Con 2 R, it provides instant one-press access to Nintendo's GameChat feature — the Switch 2's integrated voice and video communication system that allows players to chat with friends, share gameplay footage, and connect with the Nintendo Switch 2 camera accessory. Mouse controls, available in compatible games, let you slide the Joy-Con 2 on any flat surface as a computer mouse — a control option that opens new input possibilities for strategy, puzzle, and point-and-click game genres on Switch 2.
The 500mAh battery in each controller is rated at approximately 20 hours of wireless use, charged by snapping back onto the Switch 2 console or using a Joy-Con charging grip. The SL and SR shoulder buttons are significantly enlarged compared to the original Joy-Con, making them easier to press reliably in handheld split-controller play. The package includes both the left and right Joy-Con 2 controllers plus a pair of Joy-Con 2 straps, providing everything needed to start playing locally with a friend in compatible games immediately.
