LEGO Mario Kart™ – Luigi & Mach 8 (72050) is the 2,234-piece large-scale display model announced on Mario Day 2026 — the companion set to 2025's widely praised 72037 Mario & Standard Kart, bringing Luigi and his iconic Mach 8 from Mario Kart 8, MK8 Deluxe, and Mario Kart Tour into brick form for the first time at this scale. Designed for adult builders aged 18 and above, it is the first-ever large-scale LEGO recreation of the Mach 8 kart and the most substantial Luigi set LEGO has ever produced.
The Mach 8 is the turbine engine-shaped kart that is synonymous with Luigi in the Mario Kart series — its streamlined body, distinctive front intake design, and rear exhaust styling translated into 2,234 LEGO pieces with the level of detail that makes adult LEGO sets worth displaying. The Mach 8 kart model uses four large rubber tyres with printed dish elements as hub caps. The signature "L" logo appears in tile form on the kart. No stickers are used anywhere in the set — every detail is printed, which is both a quality indicator and a future-proofing decision that means the model won't yellow or peel over decades of display.
The buildable Luigi figure sits confidently behind the wheel with a posable head, arms, and hands — he can be adjusted for different display configurations and removed from the kart entirely. The steering wheel of the Mach 8 turns left and right for play interaction. The rear flame exhaust spins automatically as the kart rolls forward — a kinetic feature that adds movement to a model otherwise designed for display. The adjustable display stand angles the kart dynamically, as if it's mid-drift on the race track, and the complete model measures over 25cm high, 41cm long, and 23cm wide.
Perfectly scaled to sit alongside 72037 Mario & Standard Kart (sold separately) — together, the two sets recreate the Mario vs Luigi rivalry of Mario Kart in large-scale LEGO brick form on the same shelf. Mario's set was universally praised by the LEGO community at launch; Luigi's set is the direct companion, larger at 2,234 pieces versus Mario's 1,972.
