Change the light. Change the shot. The DJI Osmo Action 6 Adventure Combo is the first action camera in the world with a variable aperture — a waterproof, 4K/120fps action camera that adjusts its lens opening from f/2.0 to f/4.0 to control exposure and low-light performance in ways that no fixed-aperture action camera, including GoPro or Insta360, can match. The Adventure Combo adds three batteries, a 1.5-metre extension rod, and a multifunctional battery case to the camera for a ready-to-shoot all-day kit.
The variable aperture is the Osmo Action 6's defining innovation and the capability that changes how action cameras handle light. Every action camera before the Action 6 uses a fixed aperture — typically f/2.8 — that cannot adapt to changing light conditions. If you're skiing in blinding snow, f/2.8 overexposes. If you're filming indoors or at dusk, f/2.8 underperforms. The Action 6's f/2.0–f/4.0 variable aperture solves both: open to f/2.0 in low light to let in approximately twice as much light as the Action 5 Pro's f/2.8, or close to f/4.0 in bright conditions to prevent overexposure without relying entirely on ND filters. In auto mode, the aperture adjusts continuously to the scene. In manual mode, you set it. Either way, the exposure control available to the Action 6 is closer to a mirrorless camera than to any previous action camera.
The 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensor is the hardware that makes the variable aperture effective. Larger than the 1/1.3-inch sensor in the Action 5 Pro, the square format captures more light per frame and enables the 4K Custom mode — shoot first in the native square format, then crop to 16:9, 9:16, or any aspect ratio in post without quality loss, enabling one recording to produce landscape, portrait, and square content simultaneously. 4K/120fps delivers smooth slow-motion at the highest action camera resolution available. 38MP stills and 8K photo mode via the DJI Mimo app provide high-resolution frames for extraction. D-Log M 10-bit flat recording preserves highlights and shadows for professional colour grading.
RockSteady 3.0 provides the electronic stabilisation that keeps hand-held and body-mounted footage smooth. HorizonSteady now supports 4K — an upgrade from the Action 5 Pro — correcting horizon tilt in all directions at the highest resolution setting. SuperNight mode captures clear, detailed video up to 4K/60fps in low-light conditions, using the larger sensor and variable aperture in combination with DJI's noise reduction processing. Starburst mode turns point light sources into starburst effects for creative night and urban shooting.
OsmoAudio connectivity supports direct wired connection of two DJI microphone transmitters without a receiver — the most practical professional audio integration in the action camera category. Three built-in omnidirectional microphones handle ambient audio with 32-bit float recording for post-production level control. Waterproof to 20 metres without a case — no housing needed for surf, diving, rain, or submersion at that depth.
