Play your way. Every button, your choice. The PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge in Midnight Black is Sony's pro-tier PS5 controller — the most customisable controller PlayStation has ever made, designed for players who want competitive-grade hardware personalisation without leaving the official Sony ecosystem. Released as part of the Midnight Black Collection in February 2025, it brings the DualSense Edge's full feature set to the most popular PS5 colourway, matched with a Midnight Black carrying case that keeps the complete kit organised and portable.
The back buttons are the DualSense Edge's most impactful upgrade over the standard DualSense. Two swappable back button sets — half dome and lever — attach to the underside of the controller and can be configured to replicate any other button input. Crouch, reload, jump, interact: whatever action you need instant access to without lifting your thumbs off the sticks is now a single press away. The configuration is done through the PS5 interface and saved to a profile, with no need to navigate menus mid-session. For competitive multiplayer — whether that's Warzone, Apex, Fortnite, FIFA, or any game where a split-second input speed matters — remapped back buttons are the single hardware change that most consistently improves performance.
The stick customisation gives the DualSense Edge full adjustability at the thumbstick level. Three interchangeable stick cap types — standard, high dome, and low dome — change the physical feel and grip profile of both sticks to match hand size, thumb position preference, and game genre. The swappable stick modules address the drift degradation that standard sticks develop over time, making the Edge a more durable long-term investment with replacement modules available separately. Stick sensitivity and dead zone adjustment in software gives players the precision control that was previously only available on third-party pro controllers.
Trigger adjustability completes the input customisation picture. The trigger travel distance can be set to one of three stopping points, from full range for racing and adventure games to short travel for faster trigger presses in shooters. The dead zone for each trigger can also be adjusted independently for fine-tuned input responsiveness. The function button on the controller face allows instant profile switching without pausing — switching between a relaxed single-player profile and a competitive multiplayer configuration takes one press while in session.
Every DualSense feature carries over: haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported PS5 titles, built-in microphone, motion controls, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the full touchpad. The included 2.8m braided USB-C cable has a locking connector that prevents accidental disconnection during wired play. PC compatibility via USB or Bluetooth allows the Edge to be used across platforms, with the PlayStation Accessories app on Windows for full profile editing.
The Midnight Black carrying case stores the controller, all stick caps, back button sets, and the USB cable in one organised unit — chargeable via USB while inside the case.
